Supply duopoly

…Of the oligopolies in which there are multiple but few sellers of a certain good, when the number of sellers is two, it is called a duopoly or seller (supply) duopoly. The fact that the number of sellers is two and not three or more does not have any particular economic meaning. However, duopoly, the simplest case of oligopoly, is at the heart of oligopoly theory as it is the case that most clearly illustrates the problems of oligopoly.
