...The diary of Fujiwara no Michisuke, the Minister of the Right. It is thought to have originally been written over a period of about 30 years, from around 930 (Encho 8) until his death in 960 (Tentoku 4). However, parts of it are now known as (1) small fragments, (2) the Kyureki, an excerpt from the original, (3) the Kujodono-ki, a category record that classifies the articles by subject, (4) the Kyureki-ki, a written record of the religious orders of Michisuke's father, Tadahira, and (5) fragments quoted in various books. Collectively, these are called Kyureki. Originally, this name was given to the excerpt from (2), but because this copy is widely circulated and well-known, it has come to be used as a general term for the whole. ...
