It is thought to have originally been written over a period of about 30 years, from around 930 (Encho 8) until his death in 960 (Tentoku 4). However, parts of it are now known as (1) small fragments, (2) the Kyureki, an excerpt from the original, (3) the Kujodono-ki, a category record that classifies the articles by subject, (4) the Kyureki-ki, a written record of the religious orders of Michisuke's father, Tadahira, and (5) fragments quoted in various books. Collectively, these are called Kyureki.
