A former town in Okawa County, on the eastern edge of Kagawa Prefecture. A fishing port and former post town facing the Harima Nada Sea, the town is on the Takatoku Line. The town produces rice, vegetables, and rush grass, and also cultivates sea bream, yellowtail, and seaweed. In recent years, the textile sewing industry, primarily glove manufacturing, has flourished. Shiroyama on the island is the remains of Hikida Castle and offers a great view.
