Japanese: 帰一道 - きいつどう（英語表記）Guī yī dào

A secret religious society in China. It is said to have been founded in the late 19th century by Zhao Manzhi of Pingyuan County, Shandong Province. Its doctrine, like that of Yiguan Dao, is that Wushuang Laomu is the supreme deity, and combines the three teachings of Confucianism (Confucius), Buddhism (Shakyamuni), and Taoism (Laozi, Lüzu, etc.). It claims that by repeatedly chanting the name of Amitabha Buddha and reciting various spells, Maitreya will descend and dispel misfortune. It had many followers in rural areas of northern China, mainly in Hebei and Shandong Provinces, but was suppressed in the People's Republic of China as a reactionary religion. [Sakaide Yoshinobu]
