CATV stands for cable television. It is a service that broadcasts to limited areas by laying dedicated cables to each home, rather than broadcasting using regular radio waves. Currently, many businesses are repurposing these program distribution cables for communication purposes, and offering services that allow Internet connection. Originally, dedicated broadcasting satellites were used to receive programs sent by operators with shared antennas, which were then distributed via cable to subscribers' homes, hence CATV, an abbreviation for "Community Antenna TeleVision."

シーエーティービィー　ケーブルテレビのことです。通常の電波を使った放送ではなく、各家庭まで専用のケーブルを引いて、限定された地域に放送を提供するサービスです。現在は、この番組配信用のケーブルを通信用に転用し、インターネット接続ができるサービスを提供する事業者が多くなっています。もとは専用の放送衛星を使い、事業者の送出した番組を共用のアンテナで受け、契約者宅までケーブルで配信したことから、「Community Antenna TeleVision」の略としてCATVとなりました。
