Kui-feng-jing (English: Kui-feng-jing)

Japanese: 夔鳳鏡 - きほうきょう（英語表記）Kui-feng-jing

This refers to a bronze mirror with a dragon-shaped design on the back that looks like a phoenix spreading its wings. Many of them date to the Later Han Dynasty. Kui is said to be dragon-like with one leg, or cow-like without horns, to cause wind and rain when it enters or exits water, to have light like the sun and moon, and a voice like thunder. Kui have been excavated from tombs from the Han dynasty to the Six Dynasties period in China, from the Lelang Tumulus in Korea, and from ruins or tombs from the Yayoi period in Japan.

裏面に鳳凰が翼を広げているようにみえる竜形の文様をつけた青銅鏡をいう。後漢のものが多い。夔というのは竜のようで1本足，また牛のようで角がなく，水に出入りすると風雨あり，その光は日月のごとく，声は雷のようだといわれている。中国では漢代から六朝時代の墳墓，朝鮮では楽浪古墳，日本では弥生時代の遺跡あるいは古墳からも出土している。
