A figure in the legend of a rebellion around the 5th century. Father of Anikimi and Otokimi. He was appointed as the governor of Mimana by Emperor Yuryaku, who tried to take away his wife Wakahime (one theory says she was Kehime, daughter of Katsuragi Tamada no Sukune), but when he found out about the truth at his post, he conspired with Silla. His son Otokimi was ordered to suppress the rebellion, but he did not obey and instead conspired with Tasa, and was killed by his wife Kuzuhime. Wakahime gave birth to Prince Iwaki and Prince Hoshikawa with Yuryaku, and after Yuryaku's death he encouraged Hoshikawa to rebel and seized the Otakutei, but was burned to death along with Hoshikawa and Anikimi by Otomo no Muroya. The legend of Tasa's rebellion is difficult to accept as historical fact, but it is interesting when considering the structure of the Wa kingship at that time, as powerful families from Kibi (Okayama Prefecture) served in the central government and one theory says there was a marriage relationship between him and the Katsuragi clan. <References> Shinya Ohashi, "Historical Study of the Kibi Clan Rebellion Tradition" (Japanese History Review, Vol. 3) (Sato Nagato) Source: Asahi Japanese Historical Biography: Asahi Shimbun Publications Inc.
