Japanese: エスキナンサス - えすきなんさす
Eschinanthus - Eschinanthus

It is an evergreen perennial plant of the Gesneriaceae family (APG classification: Gesneriaceae), some of which become woody. Over 100 species are found in tropical Asia, New Guinea, etc. It grows on trees or rocks, and most species have drooping stems. The leaves are opposite or whorled, and the flowers are 1-2 in each upper leaf axil or in clusters at the top of the stem, forming a labiate corolla. A. pulcher G.Don, A. speciosus Hook., and A. radicans Jack are cultivated in pots. A. micranthus CBClarke is popular as a hanging ornamental plant, where you can also enjoy its flowers. It is propagated by cuttings. It can grow in weak light, and overwinter at temperatures above 10°C. Trichosporum is the old genus name.
