Founded in Kofu by the Edo Shogunate during the Kansei era ( 1789-1801 ) in the Edo period to teach the children of Kofu duty officers. Commoners were also allowed to attend. The head of the school was a professor from the Shoheizaka Academy who took turns serving as head of the school every year, and the main subjects taught were calligraphy, but a separate medical school was also established where lectures were given on Chinese medicine. The school continued to operate after the Meiji Restoration, but was closed in 1872 when the education system was established. 江戸時代、寛政年間(一七八九‐一八〇一)に江戸幕府が甲府に創設して、甲府勤番の子弟を教えた学校。庶民にも入所を許した。学頭は昌平坂学問所の教授が毎年交替で勤め、その教課は書経を主とし、別に医学所が設けられ、漢方をも講義した。明治維新後も継続したが、明治五年(一八七二)学制がしかれたことによって廃校。
