Japanese: 喜谷六花 - きたにりっか

1877-1968 A haiku poet from the Meiji to Showa periods.
Born on July 12, 1877. Head priest of Bairinji Temple, a Soto Zen temple in Shitaya, Tokyo. Studied under Kawahigashi Hekigoto. Belonged to the haiku magazine Kaiko, he was active as an innovator of free verse. He was also known as a calligrapher in the style of the Six Dynasties. Died on December 20, 1968, at the age of 91. Born in Tokyo. Graduated from Tetsugakukan (now Toyo University). His real name was Yoshiya. His haiku collections include "Kan'en" and "Kyouhaku."

明治10年7月12日生まれ。東京下谷の曹洞宗(そうとうしゅう)梅林寺住職。河東碧梧桐(かわひがし-へきごとう)に師事。俳誌「海紅」に属し,自由律の革新派として活躍。六朝(りくちょう)風の書家としても知られた。昭和43年12月20日死去。91歳。東京出身。哲学館(現東洋大)卒。本名は良哉。句集に「寒烟(かんえん)」「虚白」など。
【格言など】人の住めば寒烟はあり春を見ず(「寒烟」)
