Japanese: 漢文唐詩宋詞元曲 - かんぶんとうしそうしげんきょく（英語表記）Hàn wén Táng shī Sòng cí Yuán qǔ

A phrase that juxtaposes prose from the Han dynasty, poetry from the Tang dynasty, ci (poetry in the style of songs, also known as shiyu), and qu (drama) from the Yuan dynasty. Looking diachronically at the long history of Chinese literature, it shows that the literature of the Han dynasty is represented by prose, while that of the Tang, Song, and Yuan dynasties is represented by poetry, lyric, and melody, respectively. At the same time, when viewed in terms of these four genres, it also shows the recognition that the Han dynasty was the peak of prose, the Tang dynasty was the peak of poetry, the Song dynasty was the peak of lyric, and the Yuan dynasty was the peak of melody.
