The Fronde rebellion was a reaction to the desire to maintain traditional privileges and customs, and it was this reaction that suddenly came to the surface in the form of the Fronde. The rebellion unfolded in two stages: the early Fronde of the High Court (1648-49) which began in Paris, and the Fronde of the Princes (1649-53) which spread nationwide. *Some of the terminology that refers to the "Noble Fronde" is listed below.
