Addison's disease

Chronic adrenal insufficiency. It causes fatigue, loss of appetite, emaciation, low blood pressure, and skin pigmentation. It is a relatively rare disease, and in addition to adrenal tuberculosis and cancer metastasis to the adrenal gland, idiopathic adrenal atrophy as an autoimmune disease has been reported in recent years. In the past, patients died within a few years, but now the prognosis is good with continuous treatment and management, including administration of adrenal cortical hormones such as cortisone.

慢性の副腎皮質機能不全症。疲労しやすく，食欲不振，やせ，低血圧，皮膚の色素沈着などをきたす。比較的まれな病気で，副腎結核，癌副腎転移のほか，近年自己免疫患としての特発性副腎皮質萎縮が多く報告される。以前は数年の経過で死亡したが，現在はコーチゾンなど副腎皮質ホルモン投与を含む継続的な治療と管理によれば，予後は良好である。
