False heartwood - Gishinzai

…When there is no heartwood color in the center and only a moisture difference is present, it is called mature wood. Also, when the center becomes dark due to disease or other factors, it is called false heartwood.

The shape of the trunk is generally long and conical or bullet-shaped, and those that do not taper much from bottom to top are called full-bodied wood (urabutori wood), while those that taper significantly are called top-killed wood (uragoke wood).
