Born on October 2, 1521. Son of Kujo Michiie. His mother was Fujiwara Rinshi. Founder of the Ichijo clan. Favoured by his father, he became regent and governor in 1526, replacing his elder brother Nijo Yoshizane. Ranked Junior First Rank. In 1528, he was accused of conspiracy by his elder brother, former Shogun Kujo Yoritsune, and was ousted along with his father. In 1530, he was appointed Minister of the Left, and in 1540, reappointed regent. 59 of his poems are included in 10 imperial anthologies, including the "Shokugosen Wakashu". Died on July 18, 1542.
