Ritual Music

Japanese:
Ritual Music

...The music accompanying the movements is technically related to the movement and tempo, while the music accompanying the lines requires melody, tone, dynamics, and rhythm that suit the content of the lines, as well as being technically related to the tone and tempo of the voice.
[Customs]
Also called "ritual music" or "ceremonial music," some have been performed as theater customs unrelated to the direction of the play. Nowadays, they have been considerably simplified, but the following musical accompaniments are still played: "Chikuto Shagiri," which announces that all the actors performing in the opening act have entered the dressing room; "Makugire Shagiri," which is played at the end of each act of the play; and "Uchidashi," which announces the end of the day's performances.
