A small island in Lake Onega in northwestern Russia. In the Middle Ages, it flourished as a stopover on the sea route connecting the White Sea and Novgorod. It is known for the wooden Preobrandskaya Church, built without a single nail. This Russian Orthodox church was built in 1714 and is 37 meters high with 22 domes of various sizes stacked on top of each other, giving it the nickname "Fantasy of the Domes." Other wooden buildings remaining include the Bokrovskaya Church, built in 1784, a bell tower, a windmill, a farmhouse, a barn, and a bathhouse. These wooden buildings were registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1990.

ロシア北西部，オネガ湖にある小さな島。中世には白海とノブゴロドを結ぶ海上路の中継地として栄えた。釘を１本も使わずに建てられた木造のプレオブランジェスカヤ教会で知られる。1714年建造のロシア正教の教会で，高さ37m，大小22ものドームが重なり合い，〈円屋根の幻想〉とも呼ばれる。ほかに1784年に建てられたボクロフスカヤ教会，鐘楼，風車小屋，農家，納屋，浴場などの木造建築が残る。これらの木造建築群は1990年，世界文化遺産に登録。
