Kikyomon Gate

One of the gates in the inner perimeter of Edo Castle. A service gate located between Nishinomarushita and Sannomaru. It is called Uchisakuradamon in contrast to Sotosakuradamon. It is said to have been named after the bellflower, the family crest of Ota Dokan. Kisshomon. Kikkeimon. Minami Otemon Gate. 江戸城の内郭(うちぐるわ)門の一つ。西の丸下から三の丸に至る間にある通用門。外桜田門に対して内桜田門という。太田道灌の家紋の桔梗にちなんでつけられたという。吉祥門。吉慶門。南大手門。
