A book of Kana Zoushi (Japanese Scriptures). Eight volumes and eight books. Written by Asai Ryoi. Published in 1659 (Manji 2). There are many other editions, including a Kyoto edition published in 1664 (Kanbun 4), an Edo edition published in 1771, and a 1701 (Genroku 14) edition, as well as reprints. As the preface says, "Of the hundred acts of conduct, wherever my heart desires, I take the single character 'nin' (endurance), express it, and write it down in writing," and with patience as the basis of human life, the book is made up of a total of 25 chapters, each of which contains several anecdotes or popular tales from ancient and modern Japan and China, and contains a moral lesson.
