〘Noun〙 Buddhist term. The place where Shakyamuni passed away. It is said that when Shakyamuni passed away in the fortress of Kushinagara , the surrounding Sāla trees turned white like white cranes and withered. By extension, it means the death of Shakyamuni. It is also used to mean monks' temples, the forests of monks' temples, or a person's final moments. Tsuruha- no -hayashi.
