Registered dietitian

Japanese: 管理栄養士
Registered dietitian
Previously, the Dietitian Law defined the term as "a registered dietitian (among dietitians) who is qualified to perform complex or difficult tasks," but the Dietitian Law was revised in June 2001 to define it as "a person who, with the approval of the Minister of Health, Labor and Welfare, uses the title of registered dietitian and engages in the business of providing nutritional guidance necessary for the medical treatment of injured or sick people, nutritional guidance for the maintenance and promotion of health which requires highly specialized knowledge and techniques depending on the individual's physical condition and nutritional state, etc., and school meal management which requires special consideration depending on the physical condition, nutritional state, and usage situation of the users at facilities that provide meals to a large number of people on a continuous basis, as well as the provision of guidance necessary for nutritional improvement to such facilities."
