Kannenji Temple

…During the Genpei War, they fought against the Kono clan, who allied with the Minamoto clan, but were defeated. After the war, they submitted to the Kono clan, and during the Jōkyū War, Moriuji fought on the side of Kyoto, joining the Kono communications army. Moriuji also built Kannen-ji Temple in Kuwamura County (the construction date is said to be either during the En'ō era (1239-40) or the Bun'ei era (1264-75)), and the temple became the clan's family temple thereafter. In addition, the Yoshu Arai Keizu (Yoshu Arai Family Tree), written by Gyōnen, a member of the clan (owned by Isono Shrine in Saijō City), is a valuable historical document that gives insight into the clan's lineage and development, and has been designated an Important Cultural Property. …
