Skeletal soil

This is a virgin soil that does not show a clear soil form or structure and is composed of freshly weathered rocks and mineral fragments. Lithosols are generally limited to steep mountain slopes [US Dept. Agriculture: 1938]. It is a gravelly soil formed mainly by physical weathering of the parent rock [Kimura et al.: 1973].
