C ₄₂ H ₅₃ NO ₁₅ (811.87). Also known as aclacinomycin A. Anthracycline antibiotic produced by Streptomyces galilaeus . Yellow crystalline powder. Decomposition point 151-153 °C. -11.5° (dichloromethane). UV (methanol) λ _max : 229.5, 259, 289.5, 431 nm (ε 44650, 26460, 10960, 13070). Soluble in chloroform and ethyl acetate. The hydrochloride is used to treat stomach cancer, lung cancer, breast cancer, ovarian cancer, malignant lymphoma, and acute leukemia.
