His three main works, Traicté des seigneuries (1608), Cinq livres du droict des offices (1610), and Traicté des ordres et simples dìgnites (1610), were published many times throughout the 17th century and had a great influence, leading to the compilation of a complete edition. In Traicté des Estates, he considered the society of the time to be composed of various status groups (societies), and argued that social order was guaranteed when these status groups were stratified according to a certain scale of value.
