Kwazulu

...Then, in 1972, an autonomous government was established in Zululand under the Bantustan policy of the Republic of South Africa. This was based on the theory of apartheid, which separated blacks and whites and allowed them to develop, and Zululand was named KwaZulu. However, even though they had an autonomous government, it cannot be said that the Zulu people were freed from the hardships they had endured since being conquered by the whites.

From Zululand

...It is now combined with the former Natal Province to form the province of KwaZulu-Natal. Its name as a Bantustan is KwaZulu. Its area is 31,443 km2 and its population is 2,106,000 (1970).
