Kanzawa Tokou
1710-1795 A haiku poet and essayist from the mid-Edo period.
Born in 1766. A deputy at the Kyoto Magistrate's Office. He learned haiku from Tsumegi Banzan and Matsuki Tandan. He retired from his post after turning 40 and spent the rest of his life writing essays and other writing activities. He passed away on February 11, 1792 (according to one theory, March 27). He was 86 years old. His real surname was Irie. His given name was Sadamichi. He was commonly known as Yohei. His other pen names were Kakasai and Kicho. His works include "Okinagusa" and his edited work "Futari Tsure".
