1901‐? Korean poet and critic. Born in Seoul. After graduating from Pai Chai High School, he studied in Japan, and began writing poetry on his return. In the early days, he was influenced by Verlaine and Wilde and had aesthetic tendencies, but he came into contact with Marxist literary theory, and in 1925, together with Kim Ki Jin and others, he founded the Korean Proletarian Arts League (Korean Proletarian Arts League), becoming one of the leading figures in left-wing literary theory. After leaving the League in 1932, he turned to pro-Japanese literature. After liberation, he worked as a university lecturer in South Korea, but was dragged north during the Korean War.
