Pak Yong-hi (English spelling)

Korean poet and critic. Born in Seoul. After graduating from Pai Chai High School, he studied in Japan, and began writing poetry on his return. In the early days, he was influenced by Verlaine and Wilde and had aesthetic tendencies, but he came into contact with Marxist literary theory, and in 1925, together with Kim Ki Jin and others, he founded the Korean Proletarian Arts League (Korean Proletarian Arts League), becoming one of the leading figures in left-wing literary theory. After leaving the League in 1932, he turned to pro-Japanese literature. After liberation, he worked as a university lecturer in South Korea, but was dragged north during the Korean War.

朝鮮の詩人，評論家。ソウル生れ。培材高等普通学校を卒業後日本に留学し，帰国して詩作をはじめる。初期はベルレーヌ，ワイルド等に影響をうけ耽美的な傾向にあったが，マルクス主義文芸理論に触れ，1925年金基鎮らとともにカップ(朝鮮プロレタリア芸術同盟)を組織し，左翼文学理論の旗手の一人となった。32年カップ脱退後は親日文学にむかっていった。解放後韓国で大学の講師などをしていたが，朝鮮戦争時に北につれさられたという。
