[Classification]
The order Cetacea consists of three suborders: Mysticeti, Mysticeti, and Toothed Whales. The Archaeoceti whales originated in the Tethys Ocean, which spread from the Mediterranean Sea to East Asia, during the early Eocene period of the Tertiary Period, and became extinct at the beginning of the Oligocene. The oldest fossil is a part of a skull from Pakistan, belonging to the genus Pakicetus , which was about 2 meters long and could walk on land using its four limbs. …
