Kanzakura - Kanzakura

Japanese: カンザクラ - かんざくら

A deciduous tall tree of the Rosaceae family (APG classification: Rosaceae). It grows to a height of 4-6 meters. The leaves are obovate-elliptical, 4-10 cm long, and sharply pointed at the tip. In February and March, before the leaves appear, pale pink five-petaled flowers measuring 2.5-3 cm in diameter bloom in umbels or corymbs. It is said to be a hybrid of Kanhizakura and Oshimazakura. It is an early-flowering cherry tree, suitable for gardens in warm regions. Cultivars such as Ookanzakura and Shuzenjikanzakura flower slightly later.

Japanese:

バラ科（APG分類：バラ科）の落葉高木。高さ4～6メートルになる。葉は倒卵状楕円(だえん)形、長さ4～10センチメートル、先は急に尾状にとがる。2～3月ごろ、葉の出る前に、径2.5～3センチメートルの淡紅色の5弁花が散形または散房状になって咲く。カンヒザクラとオオシマザクラの雑種といわれる。花期の早いサクラで、暖地の庭木に適する。オオカンザクラ、シュゼンジカンザクラなどの品種は開花がやや遅れる。
