Potato Cultivation - potato cultivation

Japanese: いも栽培農耕 - いもさいばいのうこう
Potato Cultivation - potato cultivation

...The existence of a generic term such as "imo" in Japanese shows the deep relationship between potatoes and the Japanese people, while the English word "tuber" does not have the same breadth and depth of meaning as "imo."
[Potato cultivation]
Farming using potatoes as a staple food is not as widespread as cereal farming, but examples include potato farming in the Andes Mountains of South America (potatoes have also become an important crop in Europe), cassava farming in tropical South America, yam farming in West Africa, and yams and taro farming in the Pacific Islands. Potatoes are propagated vegetatively by their stems and roots, and are cultivated with simple digging sticks and hoes, often combined with slash-and-burn farming.
