Regional Police Bureau

Japanese: 管区警察局 - かんくけいさつきょく
Regional Police Bureau
Regional police bureaus are local organizations established to allocate some of the duties of the National Police Agency. There are seven regional police bureaus, excluding Tokyo and Hokkaido. The reason for establishing regional police bureaus is that the increase in widespread crime and the expansion of automobile traffic have led to the need for coordination between prefectures. The chief of the regional police bureau commands and supervises the prefectural police regarding the duties of the regional police bureau.
