… A fixed exchange rate of each national currency with the dollar represents the official price of the dollar in that currency, but a devaluation of this exchange rate means a fall in the value of the home currency against the dollar, and is also called a devaluation. The opposite is a revaluation, which results in an increase in the value of the home currency against the dollar. The most dramatic postwar example of a devaluation was the devaluation of the British pound in 1967. …
