A shipping company affiliated with Kawasaki Heavy Industries. One of the three major companies. Kawasaki Shipyard (now Kawasaki Heavy Industries) increased production of ships in anticipation of the prolonged First World War, but many of the ships remained unsold, and Kawasaki Kisen was established in 1919 to make effective use of the inventory. In 1963, Iino Kaiun separated its liner division as a result of the consolidation of the shipping industry, and Iino Kisen was established. The following year, Kawasaki Kisen absorbed Iino Kisen. As of March 2011, the company operates 537 ships and 37.15 million deadweight tons. Headquarters in Tokyo.
