A former town in Kami County facing Tosa Bay in eastern Kochi Prefecture. The main town stretches from east to west on the sand dunes on the left bank of the Monobe River. The sand dunes are used to grow sweet potatoes, and rice is cultivated in the alluvial plains of the Koso River. Dried small sardines are a major product of the town. In March 2006, Konan was incorporated as a city by merging with Kagami Town, Noichi Town, Yasu Town, and Yoshikawa Village in Kami County. Area: 1.64 km2 . Population: 3,545 (2003). 高知県東部,土佐湾に面する香美(かみ)郡の旧町。主要市街地は物部(ものべ)川左岸の砂丘上に東西に細長く伸びる。砂丘はサツマイモ栽培に利用され,香宗(こうそ)川の沖積地では水稲栽培が行われる。ちりめんじゃこの産が多い。2006年3月,香美郡香我美町,野市町,夜須町,吉川村と合併し市制,香南市となる。1.64km2。3545人(2003)。
