Saizouki - Saizouki

Japanese: 才蔵記 - さいぞうき

Also called "Local Records." A local record written during the Genroku period (1688-1704). It is said to have been written by Ohata Saizō of Kamuro Village, Ito County, Kii Province. It is one volume. In addition to describing agricultural techniques, village administration procedures, and civil engineering techniques, it conveys unique knowledge such as examples of income and expenditure calculations made by a landowner cultivating 2 cho 5 tan of land, cotton cultivation techniques, and calculations of the amount of water needed to develop new fields. Included in "Early Modern Local Economic Materials."

『地方 (じかた) の聞書』ともいう。元禄年間 (1688～1704) に書かれた地方書 (じかたしょ) 。紀伊国伊都郡学文路 (かむろ) 村の大畑才蔵の著とされる。1冊。農業技術，村政手続，土木技術などを記すほか，2町5反を耕す地主手作りの収支計算例や綿作技術，新田開発に要する用水量の算定など，独特の知識を伝えている。『近世地方経済史料』所収。
