Karl-Marx-Stadt (English spelling)

The name of Chemnitz, an industrial city in the state of Saxony in eastern Germany, from 1953 to 1990. It was also the name of a prefecture in the former East Germany during that period. Karl-Marx-Stadt prefecture, which was established along with the prefectures of Leipzig and Dresden when the former territory of Saxony was divided into three, covers an area of ​​6,009 square kilometers, and was home to a well-developed industry based on coal, silver, lead, and other minerals, with an industrial employment rate of over 50%.
