Prince Karu - Prince of Karu

(1) The name of Emperor Kotoku (597-654). In 643 (the second year of the reign of Emperor Kogyoku), before his accession to the throne, he defeated Prince Yamashiro no Oe and his family together with Soga no Kuratsukuri (Iruka) and others. He married Abe no Otarashihime as his wife and was also on friendly terms with Nakatomi no Kamako (Fujiwara no Kamatari).

(1)孝徳(こうとく)天皇（597―654）の名。即位前の643年（皇極天皇2）、蘇我鞍作(そがのくらつくり)（入鹿(いるか)）らとともに、山背大兄王(やましろのおおえのおう)とその一族を滅ぼした。阿倍小足媛(あべのおたらしひめ)を妃とし、中臣鎌子(なかとみのかまこ)（藤原鎌足(かまたり)）とも親交があった。

(2)文武(もんむ)天皇（683―707）の名。珂瑠皇子とも記した。
