Okutango Peninsula - Okutan Gohanto

Japanese: 奥丹後半島 - おくたんごはんとう

A peninsula in northern Kyoto Prefecture. Also known as the Yosa Peninsula. It forms the western edge of Wakasa Bay, with Kumihama Bay to the west of its base and Asoumi and Amanohashidate to the east. It is mountainous, with alluvial plains limited to narrow river valleys. The main settlements of Iwataki, Mineyama, and Amino have developed at its base, and the Kitakinki Tango Railway runs through it. Net fishing, including fixed-net fishing for yellowtail (Ine), and weaving, including crepe silk, are carried out here.

京都府北部の半島。与謝(よざ)半島とも。若狭湾の西縁をなし，基部の西に久美浜湾，東に阿蘇海と天橋立がある。山がちで，沖積平野は狭い河谷に限られる。基部に岩滝，峰山，網野の主集落が発達，北近畿タンゴ鉄道が通じる。ブリ定置網などの網漁業（伊根），縮緬(ちりめん)などの機業が行われる。
