Karl Schwarzschild Observatory (English: Karl Schwarzschild Sternwarte)

An observatory located in Tauntenburg, north of Jena, Germany. Completed in 1960, it was named in memory of the German theoretical astronomer A. Schwarzschild. Its representative equipment is the Schmidt camera, the largest in the world, with a primary mirror aperture of 200 cm and a corrector aperture of 134 cm. This Schmidt camera has a longer focal length than the one at Monte Palomar Observatory, allowing it to observe the distribution of stars in more detail, and is used to conduct research on the distribution of stars within the Milky Way and the Andromeda Galaxy. If the Schmidt corrector is removed, this telescope can be used as a reflecting telescope. This allows it to obtain a large amount of data, despite being located in a location with relatively poor weather conditions.
