Carillon

Japanese: カリヨン
Carillon
A carillon is a set of bells. It developed in the Netherlands and France from the Middle Ages to the Baroque period, and later spread to England and the United States. They are installed in the towers of churches and city halls, and there are also small carillons for indoor use. They are played by an automatic music box-type device or a keyboard. Originally, they were used to announce the time, but the adoption of a keyboard expanded the possibilities for musical performance, and in modern times sets containing dozens of bells were created.
