A port in Saga Prefecture. Located in the northern part of the prefecture, it faces the Sea of Japan via the Genkai Sea. It has prospered through trade with the continent since ancient times. Established in March 1953. The port administrator is Saga Prefecture. It is an important port (designated in January 1951). The port area is 1,090 hectares. It once developed as a coal shipping port.
