Karatsu Port

A port in Saga Prefecture. Located in the northern part of the prefecture, it faces the Sea of Japan via the Genkai Sea. It has prospered through trade with the continent since ancient times. Established in March 1953. The port administrator is Saga Prefecture. It is an important port (designated in January 1951). The port area is 1,090 hectares. It once developed as a coal shipping port. 佐賀県にある港。県北部に位置し、玄界灘を経て日本海に面する。古くから大陸との貿易で栄えた。1953年3月設立。港湾管理者は、佐賀県。重要港湾（1951年1月指定）。港湾区域面積は、1,090ヘクタール。かつては石炭の積出港として発展。近年では物流および観光拠点としての整備が進む。
