Karasuma Mitsutane

Japanese: 烏丸光胤 - からすまるみつたね

1723-1780 A court noble in the mid-Edo period.
Born on June 1, 8th year of the Kyoho era. Son of Nakamikado Nobusato. Became provisional Dainagon (chief minister of state) in 6th year of the Horeki era (1756). Studied Shinto and Confucianism under Takeuchi Shikibu, and was suspended from his post and placed under permanent house arrest for his involvement in the Horeki Incident in 8th year of the Horeki era. Later he was pardoned and engaged in waka poetry. Died on September 18th, 9th year of the An'ei era (1777). Age 58. His original name was Kiyotane.

享保(きょうほう)8年6月1日生まれ。中御門宣誠(なかみかど-のぶさと)の子。宝暦6年(1756)権(ごんの)大納言となる。竹内式部(たけのうち-しきぶ)に神道,儒学をまなび,8年宝暦事件に連座して止官,永蟄居(ちっきょ)の処分をうける。のちゆるされて歌道の御用にたずさわった。安永9年9月18日死去。58歳。初名は清胤。
