Under the Prison Law (1908), this term referred to facilities that detain those who have been sentenced to a prison sentence (imprisonment, incarceration, detention), criminal defendants, suspects, and those sentenced to death. The Prison Law was drastically revised in 2005 by the Prisoner Treatment Law, which abolished the term "prison" and replaced it with "penal institutions." Under the old law, prisons were divided into four types: penal servitude prisons, incarceration prisons, detention houses, and detention prisons for detaining criminal defendants and those on death row. Prisons as administrative offices are divided into prisons, juvenile prisons, and detention houses. → Substitute prisons → Related topics Imprisonment Source : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |
