…In this region, peasant uprisings often occurred in the late modern period, but the peasant petition in the Shogunate territory in 1749 (Kan'en 2) and the social reform riots in 1866 (Keio 2) are called the Shintachi riots because they were so extensive that they extended over both Shinobu and Date counties. (1) The Kan'en peasant petition was caused by Kamiyama Saburozaemon, who was appointed as the magistrate of the Koori magistrate's office in 1749, and his harsh tax increase policy despite a poor harvest. The 60 or so villages under its jurisdiction repeatedly petitioned for tax reductions, but their petitions were not heard, so they rose up in unison and stormed the magistrate's office, demanding tax reductions and exemptions, low stone tax payments and deferred payments, and the handover of the clerks who had not submitted petitions to the Shogunate. …

…この地域では近世後期にしばしば百姓一揆が起こっているが，なかでも1749年(寛延2)の幕領での惣百姓強訴と1866年(慶応2)の世直し騒動は，信夫･伊達両郡にまたがる規模のものであったので信達騒動と呼ばれている。　(1)寛延の惣百姓強訴は1749年桑折（こおり）代官所の代官として着任した神山三郎左衛門が，凶作にもかかわらず過酷な増租策を打ち出したのが原因である。管轄下の60余村は再三減免を求める運動を繰り返したが取り上げられなかったため，いっせいに蜂起して代官所へ押し寄せ，年貢減免，安値による石代納と延納，訴状を幕府へ上申しなかった手代の引渡しを要求した。…
