The leaves are opposite at the bottom and alternate at the top. The leaf blade is narrowly ovate, with a rounded truncate at the base, 4-9cm long, 1-2cm wide, and double serrated edges. In August and September, reddish purple flowers bloom on each side of the bracts gathered at the ends of the branches. The calyx is tubular with a deep ventral lobe. The labiate corolla is about 2cm long, with the lower lip spreading diagonally and shallowly divided into three lobes at the tip, and the upper lip curved in a sickle shape and pointed like a beak. …
