Kabakikomachi spider - Kabakikomachi spider

A terrestrial animal belonging to the family Campephagidae, class Arachnida, order Araneae, phylum Arthropoda. This yellow spider is 12 mm long for females and 10 mm long for males, and is known in some regions as Kuchiguro, due to its prominent black upper jaw. It usually dwells on silver grass leaves folded into a rice dumpling-like shape. When the eggs laid in the dwelling in early September hatch, the baby spiders are known to devour the mother's body. This spider is also the most poisonous of all spiders in Japan, and if you are bitten, you may experience fever, swelling, pain, and chills for several days, depending on your constitution, but the poison is not fatal and you will eventually recover. Antihistamines are used as a treatment. Similar species to this one include the Yamato Komachi spider, the Asinaga Komachi spider, and the Yasakomachi spider, but the baby spiders of these spiders do not eat their mothers.
