...It does not produce fruit easily, but when cross-breeded, it produces slightly spherical, red berries 8 mm in diameter. The closely related Schlumbergera bridgesii (Lem.) Löfgr., also known as the crab cactus, is distinguished by its radially symmetrical flowers, blunt sawtooth stems, and spring flowers, although there are intermediate hybrids. It can grow in partial shade, but to promote flowering, it should be exposed to full sun, with no watering in August, and regular watering from September.
