Osamu Kanai

Japanese: 金井修 - かないしゅう

1897-1963 An actor from the Taisho and Showa periods.
Born in 1897. Participated in the launch of the New People's Theatre Company (Second New National Theatre Company) in 1918. In the Showa era, formed the Kanai Shuichi Theatre Company. Performed at the Asakusa Showaza Theatre, as well as at theatres such as Shinkyogoku in Kyoto and Dotonbori in Osaka, and gained popularity as a swordplay star. Died on December 21, 1963. Age 66. Born in Kyoto. Graduated from Kyoto Middle School. Real name was Kanao Osamu.

明治30年生まれ。大正7年新民衆劇団(第二新国劇)の旗揚げに参加。昭和にはいり,金井修一座を結成。浅草昭和座を中心に京都新京極,大阪道頓堀などの劇場で公演,剣劇スターとして人気をえた。昭和38年12月21日死去。66歳。京都出身。京都中学卒。本名は金尾修。
