Movable bond

…In these cases, depending on the species of animal, the bones may ossify and become one, or even in the same animal, the bones may ossify and fuse with age (ossification). The second type is when there is a lot of connective tissue between the two bones, making them highly mobile, and is called a mobile fusion. Examples include the limb bones of quadrupeds and the upper and lower jaw bones. (In the human body, the connections between vertebrae are made by cartilage called intervertebral discs, but there are many examples of mobile fusions in the vertebral kingdom, such as the spinal column of snakes, which can be freely bent.)
